Arvind Kejriwal, AAP govt win trust vote in Delhi

Arvind Kejriwal's full speech ahead of trust vote:

Kejriwal addresses Delhi Assembly:

AAP considers even the middle class as aam aadmi, considers everyone who wants an honest system in the country whether he lives in Greater Kailash or a shanty.

Those who want to a corrupt system, they are khas aadmi (special people), whether he is rich or poor.

Aam aadmi want food twice a day, wants clothes, a roof over the head, wants family members treated, wants security and wants good judicial system. But he has not found this system in 65 years. We all need to think about it. It is not about the politics of BJP or Congress.

Two people died of cold in Delhi. But we need not do politics on it. Billions of rupees was spent but did not go to the common man in the last 65 years. All that money was eaten up by politics.

Aam aadmi irrigates fields, not politicians. Aam aadmi builds houses, not politicians, aam aadmi drives autos, not politicians, aam aadmi goes to the moon, not politicians, aam aadmi does research, not politicians.

Then aam aadmi decided to contest elections.

It was an impossible task, our chances of winning were nearly zero. Politicians were mocking us.

But god is the person who has none. On December 4, there was a miracle. Aam aadmi won.

There is a strange VIP culture in the country. A minister goes somewhere and the traffic is halted. They say the minister's time is precious. I have stopped at all lights. My time was not wasted. Then there is the issue of security threat to the minister. I believe nothing can happen to you if god is with you. When god removes his hand, no one can save you.

These days, people have to pay bribe to get every work done. There should be a penalty for delaying work.

Where should the money be spent in my area should not be decided by ministers and bureaucrats but by the people.

We want to bring swaraj (self-governance) in Delhi.

We also want full statehood for Delhi.

There should be audit of power companies and then we should decide what should be the power tariff.

Electricity meters should be checked.

The problem is that water is not reaching all people. We have asked Delhi Jal Board on how much water reaches which area. We want to put the data on the website. And we need to bring water to areas where there is no water.

Then there is the issue of unauthorised colonies, which need to be regularised.

No slums should be demolished till there is a solution to the issue.

Lots of people are working on contract. Their exploitation must be stopped.

99 per cent traders want to work with honesty. But the government assumes that the trader is dishonest. This has to be resolved.

We oppose FDI in the retail sector like the BJP.

Farmers are not seen as farmers in Delhi. They do not get subsidy on fertilizers. There should be no forcible land acquisition.

Lal dora should be expanded.

Then there is the issue of education. I don't think anyone's child here studies in a government school. Donation system should be stopped in private schools.

Condition of government hospitals is bad. And they should give better treatment than private hospitals.

Women's security must be strengthened. There were hundreds of rape cases in Delhi.

Number of lower courts must be increased and the number of judges must also be increased.

The question is how many members are willing to stand by the aam aadmi?

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said his party was not afraid of a floor test in the assembly on Thursday that would determine whether or not the AAP government enjoys majority support.

"We are not afraid... how long this government will survive," a smiling Kejriwal told the media. "If we had any fear, maybe we would have gone to the temple to pray."

The Aam Aadmi Party took power on Saturday on the strength of its 28 seats in the 70-member Delhi assembly. The Congress, with eight legislators, has declared its support to the Kejriwal government.
